Expert Witness

An expert witness is one who is qualified by the court as an expert in a particular field and may assist the judge or jury in understanding a method or technology at issue, interpreting results of scientific tests and offering opinions based upon the evidence in the case. Testifying experts are not required to conduct the tests on which they base their opinions. However, they must possess the required technical or specialized knowledge to be qualified by the court as an expert in their particular field in order to review relevant materials from the case and/or give relevant opinions.

As an expert witness, I have extensive experience and knowledge in my field of construction defects and plumbing to define observations in a written report and subsequently provide my professional opinion in depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and in court trial on behalf of my clients

Forensic Investigation

The gathering and analysis of physical evidence along with on-site observations of construction defects is the first major component to supporting my clients.  My cross-sectional experiences and additional licenses in sub-contractor trades along with my years of experience in supervising sub-contractors and my own employees allows me to see small details often overlooked but extremely important to the case I am opining in.

Cost Estimating

The three major components in my business as a construction defects expert witness are:

1 – To observe and document the construction defect issues at hand
2 – Help determine responsibility of actions to the nature and extent of the construction defect issues
3 – Prepare a detailed and accurate construction cost estimate for the remediation of the defect issues

My many years of detailed and in-depth cost estimating within the construction industry along with my actual hands-on experiences give me a unique ability to observe changes from the past and prepare for the future with new materials and techniques.  I am constantly educating myself with current industry publications and services to keep my estimating skills sharp.

Report Writing

Report writing is a process of creating a formal document that presents information, analysis, and often recommendations on a specific topic, issue, or event. Reports are structured documents designed to inform a reader who may be unfamiliar with the subject matter, using clear headings, logical organization, and conclusions to convey findings and support decision-making.

Writing a concise and detailed report is a major component of my work which includes extensive research and investigation to support my opinions.  I am regularly honing my skills through research and investigation to prepare clear and concise reports for my clients.  My reports are evidence-based and informative to be able to support my opinions and conclusions.

Litigation Support

Litigation support professionals such as a construction defect expert witness analyzes the collected evidence to find key information, uncover patterns, and identify irregularities that can support or refute a legal argument. Successful litigation support requires sound project management practices, integrating people, processes, and technology to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of information for the legal team.  It frees up attorneys to focus on core legal work, such as building strategies and arguments, rather than getting bogged down in back-end data management.

An expert witness’ observations and opinions are very important in Litigation matters.  Litigation is time consuming and very expensive.  It is important to me and ultimately to my clients that my opinions are clear and concise and are supported by the facts in evidence.

I back all my reports, expert opinions and conclusions for my clients by being able and willing to testify to my findings in depositions, mediations, arbitrations and open court testimony.

My many years of experience allows me to be calm and collected during testimony in full support of my client’s litigation efforts.
